PROSTITUTION

Postby deathrowmadam on Wed Dec 31, 2008 8:48 pm

In the 90's, I became a prominent public figure, appearing on many television talk shows, fighting for the legalization of prostitution, and civil rights of prisoners. Although I was stripped of my glamorous life as I knew it, I was not stripped of my beliefs, one being that the government does not have the right to tell a woman who she can go to bed with, or to tell a man how he can spend his paycheck.

Sex for money has been defined as a criminal act of prostitution. But prostitution is a victimless crime. It is paid sex between two consenting adults, which should be a moral issue, not a legal one. All of us prostitute ourselves in one form or another. Everyone has a price - it's just determining what that price is. The institution of marriage is based upon financial arrangements, and even the IRS has been known to hire prostitutes for their
investigations.

Cheri, I sort of agree with you that prostitution should be a free choice of any woman provided she is not forced into sexual slavery by anyone. I think I would join you in your effort to legalize it. You said you were stripped of your glamorous life, what happened?

We here at the Institute strongly support woman's sexual autonomy and the choice of how she elects to express her sexuality and that includes becoming a sex worker if she freely chooses to do so. The one caveat being that she is not coerced or otherwise forced to prostitution. Yes, Cheri, we also agree with your assessment that prostitution should not be a legal matter, but rightly a moral issue and should be legalized. Most know that to attempt to legislate morals is a folly. What can we do to help?

As one who paid her way through school as a hooker, I can say that it is certainly not a profession I would recommend to any young girl. Although I made toms of dough and had lots of fun, it was draining and sometimes humilating and worst of all I got a STI..not funny. My suggestion is don;t do it.
